Joan Sweeny as “Marcy Stanton.”

Robert says, “When Joan agreed to step in at the last minute to play the senator’s wife Marcy, she brought a reality and depth and it became apparent that she gave a voice for the audience at the end of the movie – she was the voice of outrage”.

As a creative producer, she pushed for “the live feed” in the picture while we were in post production and we wound up shooting it in the pick-up scene.”

Paul Bernard says, “The movie speaks for itself and I think everything is very well done with the budget we had. The money was spent in the right places.”

The result of making the film, for all involved, is a search for the answer to the question, “Who will save the children” and the conviction that “the rights of the children should come first.”
“Follow The Prophet” is the first of what promises to be many compelling films from Red Road Productions. The production company, which opened its doors in 1994, has four scripts ready to go including “Sellout”, “The Impulse” “Call Fat Tommy” and several others in various stages of development.

Joan was trained by the teachers of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and mentored by Stanley Beck. She studied with Shelly Winters, Ernie Martin, and Sharon Chatten, and is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio. She received a B.A. in Theater from Loyola/Marymount Los Angeles, a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology and is a graduate of Writers Boot Camp.

She has worked as a professional actress for over twenty years in leading roles on stage, in film, Movies of the Week, Television and commercials. Joan has starred in plays in London and Los Angeles, including James Dolittle’s last production of the original play Angel’s Share, directed by Susan Peretz, at the Tiffany Theater in which she co-starred with Paula Prentiss and Salome Jens.

Most recently, Joan has co-starred with Steve Sandvoss (Latter Days, Rumor has it) in Letters from Frankenstein and in the award-winning short film Lullaby, directed by M.F. Wilson and co starring Tobin Bell.
